Slav Hermanowicz, Ph.D. is the principal of Sustainability and Water. Slav
provides leadership and technical expertise on water-related projects based on
his extensive expertise in the field. He was educated at the Warsaw University
of Technology and the University of Toronto. For the past twenty six years he
has been a faculty in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at
the University of California at Berkeley. His research and professional practice
is focused on sustainability metrics, water technology assessment, membrane
processes, biofilms, water and wastewater treatment.
Recently, he has been a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Sustainability at the
Universität für Bodenkultur (BOKU) in Vienna where he spent a semester
conducting research and teaching a course on sustainability. He presented a
